How to import your manuscript into AxiomStory

In short

Click New book, open the Import manuscript tab and drop in an EPUB, PDF, TXT, Markdown or HTML file up to 25 MB. AxiomStory splits it into chapters for you, and you can start writing or build a Wiki right away.

Import a book

  1. From your projects, click New book.
  2. Open the Import manuscript tab and drop your file on Drop a file or choose one.
  3. Add a Book title, or leave it blank to use the title from the file.
  4. Click Import book, then Open saved book.

To add another book to a series you already started, open the project and use Add a book. The same import option is there.

Files you can import

  • EPUB, PDF, TXT, Markdown (.md) and HTML, up to 25 MB.
  • Up to 1,000 chapters and 1,000,000 words per book. Longer works import best as one book per volume.
  • PDFs need real text, up to 500 pages. A scanned PDF made of images can't be read yet.

Word files (.docx) aren't supported yet. In Word, use File > Save As and pick PDF, Plain Text or Web Page, then import that file.

How chapters are found

AxiomStory starts a new chapter at heading lines such as "Chapter 7", "Chapter Seven", "CHAPTER VII", "Part Two", "Prologue" or "Epilogue". A short title on the next line becomes the chapter name. In an EPUB, each section of the book becomes a chapter and front matter is skipped.

If your file has no chapter headings, the whole book comes in as Chapter 1. Add "Chapter 1", "Chapter 2" lines to the file and import it again to get separate chapters.

Questions

Is my manuscript used to improve AI models?

Only if you leave it on. By default, content may be used to improve AxiomStory and AI models, with your name, email and payment details removed first. Turn it off any time in Settings > Privacy, on any plan. The privacy policy has the details.

Can I paste my text instead of uploading a file?

Yes. Start a book on the Start writing tab and paste into the editor. Pasted text doesn't get split into chapters, so add chapters with Add chapter as you go.

Does importing cost credits?

No. Importing and writing in the editor are free. Credits are spent on Assistant replies, Wiki builds, pictures, voices and video.
